II. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Memoriam

Dear Wolfgang,

I'm really sorry I forgot all about you yesterday. Life nowadays is not like it used to be in your time. Or at least we think it isn't. We're always in such a hurry…

In a TV interview a few days ago, an artist said he didn't like your music so much, because it is limited, basic. Is your music really limited, dear Wolfgang, or is he really an artist? I wonder.

Whatever I might write now would never add anything really meaningful to what so many have already said or written so much better. I prefer to listen to the music you had in your mind the moment you left this world two hundred fifteen years ago.

Confutatis maledictis,
flammis acribus addictis,
voca me cum benedictis.
Oro supplex et acclinis,
cor contritum quasi cinis,
gere curam mei finis.

[When the damned are cast away,
and consigned to the searing flames,
call me to be with the blessed.
Bowed down in supplication I beg you,
my heart as though ground to ashes,
help me in my final hour.]

Requiem Mass, KV 626

It was his deathday?

I also forgot.

I guess you can't please everybody.
Mind sharing who that artist is???

I'd love to know.

Saw this live in SF. Odd how last works are so telling. Composers know and ususlly get it right for posterity.

My dear,

Adorei a carta!

Hello Joel! Yes, and that was exactly something I didn't want to miss at all...
Of course not, Joel, Greeks and Trojans at the same time, that's just impossible.
Oh, as to the so-called - or self-called - artist, he's a nobody for all I care. How can you claim having an artistic sensibility, and then just say Mozart's music is basic?! He's either crazy or scornful, that's it.
He says of himself he's a modern artist - not a painter! - who never cared to learn how to draw... Can you believe this?
Thank you!
Hugs!

RIC disse...

Hello Will! Those last scenes in «Amadeus» are quite close to the truth: he didn't die dictating Salieri parts of the Mass, but to a discipule of his, and humming it along until he lost consciousness... Impressive.
Have a great day!

RIC disse...

Meu caro João, admito prontamente a minha ignorância!

E hoje não quero irritar-me...
Muito obrigado pelo cuidado!
Uma muito boa noite para ti!

My god! My hero's deathday and now I'm aping his illness. I think I'll create s stirring operatic samba and fling myself off of a two inch curb . HAHAHA!

Actually, I look forward to listening to him more and more this year!! I hope I sound sane - my writing certainly is. Without agony would be nice;.

Anónimo disse...

Okay -- beat me with a stick because I have never seen Amadeus...

EU ESTOU

Hello dear Gray! Very nice to have you around! I do surely hope you're feeling better now! Well, at least you were able to come to Lisbon, so you just cannot be that ill... (Lol!)
And if you're planning to listen to Mozart's music still this year, as you say, I guess you'll have to run the marathon - aren't we just a few days away from 2007?...
I do love his music, that's all I can say!
Get well soon, dear Gray!
Thanks a lot!

RIC disse...

Are you kidding me, Will?! No, I won't beat you with anything whatsoever, but I surely tell you that you're missing something: Milos Forman's «Amadeus» is marvellous, and that common idea that he made a jerk, a fool out of Mozart is absurd, It's even quite moving. You'll be crying like a Magdalene (as we say around here) by the end of it. I assure you!
And, btw, you shouldn't miss either «Immortal Beloved», on the not so well known love life of Beethoven, with a superb soundtrack! I often listen to it!
Best wishes! Don't get in trouble!
Bye-bye!

RIC disse...

Obrigado, Carioca!

Well, now I have more films that I need to see. I have a musicians soul and was declared a prodigy at age 10 (scored highest in the city -- a perfect score) on a music aptitude test. But my dad pondered for all of ten seconds as to whether he would use any of his drinking and whoring money on his kid – before says “NO”. He was a charmer (not).

Doing major de-install and reinstalls of chunks of my PC tonight as email writing abends about 80 percent of the time before I can send it. If I disappear you’ll know the process is not going well...Hope to be back within an hour.

RIC disse...

Some fathers can be such dears, can they not?...
Wish you a good work!

Anónimo disse...

watcr back, juke box back, SN Soup for the Soul blog logo (animated gif) back. Things shrunk. Moved left/right columns down. Will do proper profile tomorrow and then start my side bar contents.

I hav ebeen meaning to ask. When i play with your cat, do you see it jump out of the box? i assume not but that would be fun if you did.

RIC disse...

Sorry, Will, here we go back again to what should be over by now. This is no mailbox, okay?
Is this some kind of provocative behoaviour? I don't get it.
This is no notebook either, Will, for you to take notes about your tasks.
You leave me no other way than to delete what doesn't belong in here.
Enough is enough. I'm truly sorry.

Haha! Então ele!
Obrigado!
Um abraço, meu caro!
