«Solitude Standing»…

My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes, I think you've seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble
Some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
[3×]

I think it's cause I'm clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it's because I'm crazy
I try not to act too proud
Only hit until you cry
After that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
[3×]

Yes, I think I'm okay
Walked into the door again
If you asked just what I say and
It's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing wrong
Just don't ask me how I am
[3×]

And the only hit until you cry
After that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
[3×]

Suzanne Vega, "My Name is Luka", 1987

Enjoy your weekend!
Enjoy the sight!
Enjoy life!

(rsrsrs!) E há quem se mostre muito bem...
Um abraço para ti também!
Bom fim-de-semana!

Hello Kevin, our NYC traveller!
That t-shirt is a wonderful joke! Can you imagine anyone going out with that thing on? I cannot! Not around here, at least... But the picture is superb!
No, I don't think he's Portuguese, but with that kind of face he could be, quite easily. Many guys around here look just like that. But I suspect he may be Brazilian. Don't know why, but I do.
Enjoy your weekend as well!

I have always enjoyed that picture. Please wrap him up for my christmas stocking stuffer.

Ric

So I guess, Will, that picture is an oldie... That boy may be now as old as me. Is that what you mean?
I don't mind wrapping him up for you as long as he plays along... Besides, I don't usually give expensive presents for Christmas. It's just a principle of my own... (Lol!)
Enjoy your weekend!

I've always loved that song.

Sad that it's about family violence.

Try to have a better weekend than Luca.

RIC disse...

Hello Joel! It's a great song indeed! As to its subject, you're quite right, but just imagine that Luka may be talking about other kinds of troubles, other kinds of fights, other kinds of hits...
Let yourself go with the photo...
Thanks!

Oh, I *also* share my gifts that can be eaten with the one who gives "him" -- i mean "it' to me. I hope you like spicy food.

Yes, he may be as old as you now -- 34 1/2 ;-D.

RIC disse...

What a generous soul, Will!... I'm overwhelmed!
I do like spicy food, of course I do, can't you tell?... The only thing is that some Christmas dishes cannot be shared. You're supposed to eat your portion alone...
What did I tell you! That photo is really an oldie. He's now older than me! Dear Lord, how can the web be so out of date already?! Unbelievable! :-)

Anónimo disse...

Oh my god -- now I feel like I need a wheelchair. That gift would be lip smacking good down to the last, tender bite.

I better go before I get myself all worked up.

RIC disse...

It would, wouldn't it, Will?... I'm sure it definitely would...
Take care! Wheelchairs can also be dangerous... Some times.
Period.

Gastaria uns quantos adejctivos. :-)

Beijinhos! :-)

Mommmmmaaaaaa

RIC disse...

Are you feeling alright, Gumby?... I do hope so!
Nice having tou around! Thanks!

The song disturbed me from a completely different avenue: How could someone who is so utterly handsome be forced to deal with such unpleasantness as what sounds to be a regular housebeating.

Beautiful? Indeed! But if the song were true for that particualr gorgeous model, how ugly would his inner being become?

RIC disse...

Hello Gray! Well, around here we have a saying: «the one who sees faces doesn't see hearts»...
I've known so many gorgeous, handsome, beautiful faces... And what about their inner worlds? Deserts...
Thank you very much!
